Traveling internationally can be stressful, especially when long immigration queues add unnecessary delays. To make the process smoother, the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveler Program (FTI-TTP) has been launched for Indian Nationals and OCI cardholders. Once approved, travelers can use e-gates to complete immigration in just a few minutes.
In this blog post, I’ll walk you through the step-by-step process for applying for FTI-TTP, including eligibility requirements, necessary documents, and biometric registration.
1. What is FTI-TTP?
FTI-TTP is designed to simplify immigration clearance for Indian Nationals and OCI cardholders. Approved travelers can skip the regular queues and use automated e-gates for faster processing.
2. FTI-TTP Eligibility Criteria
To apply for FTI-TTP, you must meet the following conditions:
- Indian Passport holders (ECNR category only)
- OCI card holders
- Age: 7 years & above
- Passport validity: 6 months or more
For official details, visit the FTI-TTP website.
3. FTI-TTP Application Process
Here’s how to apply:
- Register with your email and mobile number.
- For applicants between 7 and 18 years, parents/guardians can apply using their own account.
- Complete the application by filling in personal, passport, and address details.
4. Required Documents
Keep the following documents ready before starting your application:
1. Passport-size photo

💡 Tip: Use Paint or AI tools to adjust photo size or background.
2. Passport scans

3. Proof of address
- Required only if different from what’s mentioned in the passport.
⚠️ Note: Aadhar card is not considered as an address proof.

4. OCI card holders

5. Submitting the Application
- Register and apply via the FTI-TTP official website.
- Create separate applications for each applicant.
- Upload all required documents and submit.
- You’ll receive a confirmation email after submission.
6. Biometric Registration
After submitting your application, the next step is biometric registration. You have two options:
Option 1: International Airports (Suitable for most)
Register at the biometric desk after completing immigration on your next international trip.

⚠️ Note: If registering at airports, you must clear immigration the regular way first. You’ll be able to use FTI services from your next international journey (once approved).
Option 2: FRRO Offices
Visit during working hours (Mon–Fri, 10 AM–5 PM).

Our Experience with Biometric Registration and Fast Track Immigration
We completed our biometric registration at Mumbai Airport during departure on our recent trip. The registration counter is located in the far-left corner, just beyond the immigration counters.
- There were a few people ahead of us in the queue, but the process was quick – less than five minutes per person. It involved scanning a QR code and capturing fingerprints and thumb impressions from both hands.
- The scanner struggled to capture my son’s fingerprints, even after multiple attempts. I had to press his hand firmly against the device to get a successful scan.
Tip: Press your fingers quite hard against the scanner to ensure proper capture of the biometric data.
- My own QR code didn’t work initially. After a couple of failed attempts, the staff insisted I needed to create a fresh application. I explained that my application was complete and requested that they enter the number manually. They eventually agreed—and it worked.
Tip: If the QR code fails, ask them to enter the number manually.
- My wife had difficulty getting her biometrics scanned. It took several attempts and quite a bit of time to complete the process.
Note: If you face similar issues, be prepared for multiple tries each time you use the Fast Track Immigration (FTI) system.
- We received our FTI approval emails two days later. On arrival, it helped us skip a 45-minute immigration queue.
- For my son and me, the arrival process was smooth. Just follow the on-screen instructions at the kiosk:
- Scan your boarding pass
- Scan the biometric page of your passport
- Proceed to the next gate
- Scan your thumb or finger as instructed, and you’re through.
- As expected, my wife faced some difficulty during biometric scanning on arrival. After several attempts, she was able to clear immigration.
