Basalt Resort Vadodara: A Perfect Family Getaway Near Pavagadh

If you are looking for a peaceful resort near Vadodara for a family getaway, Basalt Resort is a great option to consider. In December 2025, we spent a day at Basalt Resort with our extended family, and it turned out to be a memorable experience filled with relaxation, activities, and quality bonding time.

Why We Chose Basalt Resort Near Vadodara

After almost a year, we visited our hometown Vadodara, and this time the trip was extra special as our entire extended family was meeting after a long gap. Everyone was excited to spend time together and meet Yuven after a year. To make the most of this reunion, the family decided to plan a day’s stay at a resort near Vadodara.

We explored several resorts and finally finalized Basalt Resort due to:

  • Its proximity to Vadodara
  • Spacious open areas
  • Competitive pricing for group bookings
  • Positive online reviews
  • Pure vegetarian

Basalt Resort offers two accommodation options:

  • Zen Rooms
  • Zen Bungalows (2 BHK) with private pools

We booked six Zen Rooms with the MAP plan, which included dinner and breakfast. The booking was done about 40 days in advance with a 50% advance payment.

Booking Experience

While the resort met expectations during the stay, the booking process could have been smoother. We had to follow up multiple times to receive the quotation, and there were a few errors that caused confusion, especially since we were booking for a group of 14 people. Even after making the advance payment, confirmation took a few hours.

Zen Rooms & Resort Infrastructure

The Zen Rooms at Basalt Resort are designed in pairs, with ample open seating space in frontโ€”ideal for families and groups. Each room comes with:

  • Chairs and a coffee table
  • A swing chair
  • A cozy outdoor sit-out area perfect for morning tea or late-night conversations

The Zen Rooms and Zen Bungalows are located in separate lanes, maintaining privacy for guests.

The rooms were spacious enough for 3โ€“4 people with extra beds, though bed comfort could be improved. Bathroom cleanliness and plumbing need attention, although the hot water and shower panel worked perfectly. Linen, towels, and bedsheets were not thoroughly cleaned, but the service response was quick and helpful throughout the stay.

One of the highlights of the resort is the rooftop infinity pool, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and the Pavagadh landscape. Due to cold weather, we skipped the pool, but the sunset views were breathtaking.

Activities at Basalt Resort

Basalt Resort offers a good mix of indoor and outdoor activities, making it suitable for guests of all age groups. There are several indoor games available, including table tennis, ice hockey, a pool table, carrom, and chess, along with a small play area for toddlers. For outdoor fun, the resort provides cricket bats and balls, badminton rackets, and shuttlecocks, which can be used in the open garden area. Guests can also take bicycles and ride around the property at a relaxed pace. Toward the far end of the garden, there are swings and a few outdoor adventure activities that add to the overall experience. In addition to this, the resort has a discotheque, a small gym setup, and a massage parlour, giving guests multiple options to unwind and stay engaged during their stay.

Our Stay Experience at Basalt Resort

We started from Vadodara around noon in three cars and reached the resort within an hour. The drive was smooth, and once off the highway, clear signboards guided us to the property (though we still relied on Google Maps).

On arrival, we learned that a corporate event and a day picnic were taking place, so the main parking area was full. However, the resort has ample parking space, and the staff guided us efficiently. They also helped unload our luggage and delivered it to our rooms.

Check-in was smooth but time-consuming. Considering the elders in the group, the staff thoughtfully allotted us rooms near the reception and the restaurant.

Lunch & Afternoon Activities

The restaurant was crowded during lunch due to the event, so we opted for room service. The food was delivered promptly and tasted good. We also enjoyed local seasonal Gujarati snacks like ponk and khichu, which we had brought along.

Post lunch, we explored the resort, spent time in the clubhouse, and enjoyed indoor games. Mihir tried the massage service, which turned out to be a relaxing experience. In the evening, we played cricket and badminton in the garden, with the Pavagadh hills creating a stunning backdrop for photos.

Dinner Experience with Live Music

The entire day, the resort staff was preparing the garden opposite our room. Initially, we thought it was for some event, but later we realized they were setting it up for dinner, as the resort was fully occupied. To our surprise, we got to enjoy live music along with dinner. The food spread was quite elaborate, with a good mix of starters, live counters, salads, soups, main course options, breads, rice preparations, desserts, and ice cream. The food tasted good, and the live music added a pleasant vibe to the evening.

We enjoyed the music until almost 10:30 PM, which felt like an added advantage during our stay. Later, we played card games and then called it a night.

Breakfast & Checkout

The next morning, a few members of our group woke up early to enjoy the sunrise, breathe in the fresh air, and soak in the gentle morning sunlight. We went for breakfast around 9:30 AM, by which time the breakfast service was already in progress.

The breakfast spread offered a wide variety of options, including cereals, bread, cupcakes, puri bhaji, sevai upma, vada, idli, sambhar, juices, cut fruits, sprouts, French fries, and a live dosa counter. While the bread, croissants, and cupcakes were dry and not very fresh, the rest of the breakfast items tasted good.

After breakfast, we took a leisurely walk and cycled around the resort before checking out at around 11:30 AM.

Final Verdict: Is Basalt Resort Worth Visiting?

Overall, we had a wonderful family day at Basalt Resort. Despite a few drawbacks in room maintenance and the booking process, the resort scores well for:

  • Location near Vadodara and Pavagadh
  • Open spaces and scenic views
  • Variety of activities
  • Prompt and courteous service

Basalt Resort is a good choice for family getaways, group stays, and weekend breaks near Vadodara. I would definitely consider staying here again.
