During my six-night work trip to Doha, Qatar, I stayed at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, and it turned out to be much more than just a business hotel.
Located about 20โ25 minutes from Hamad International Airport, the hotel feels like a resort hidden in the middle of the cityโspacious, calm, and thoughtfully designed. Despite arriving early in the morning, the check-in experience set the tone for a smooth and welcoming stay.
From the generously sized rooms and Parisian-style bathrooms to the extensive dining options and warm hospitality, my experience at The Westin Doha was largely pleasant, with one small caveat that future travelers should be aware of.
Arrival Experience
I arrived at the hotel around 11 AM, fully prepared for a long wait since it was well before standard check-in time. I had requested a higher-floor room, but none were available at that moment. The staff gave me two options:
- Wait a couple of hours for my preferred room, or
- Wait just 15 minutes and take a readily available room
After an overnight journey, the choice was obvious โ comfort over preference. Within minutes, I was checked into my room.
First Impressions of the Room

Room 0194 was located, facing the south-southeast side of the hotel. The moment I entered, it felt welcoming. The design, layout, and aesthetics were modern and soothing, and the room size was more than adequate for a long business stay.

One standout feature was the Parisian-style bath area, which was noticeably larger than what youโd typically find in city hotels. It included:
- A freestanding bathtub overlooking the TV
- A spacious wardrobe/closet area
- Separate toilet and shower areas, each with individual doors
This thoughtful layout added a touch of luxury to the overall experience.
The room also featured a dedicated coffee bar closet, fully stocked with ample tea and coffee supplies, along with a coffee machine โ something I genuinely appreciated during early work mornings.
Comfort-wise, everything inside the room felt well thought out and functional, making it suitable for both business travelers and leisure guests.
One Minor Drawback: Traffic Noise
The only downside during my stay was the continuous vehicle noise. Since my room was close to the busy Salwa Road, it took me a bit of time to get used to the traffic sounds. That said, late evenings were much quieter as traffic eased, and it became far less noticeable.
Hotel Facilities: A Resort in the City

The Westin Doha truly feels like a city resort. The hotel offers an impressive range of facilities, including:
- Indoor and outdoor swimming pools
- A fully equipped fitness center
- A luxurious spa
- Seven restaurants offering diverse dining options
- Large conference and meeting rooms
Itโs an excellent choice whether youโre visiting Doha for work, a short stay, or even a relaxed city getaway.
Hospitality & Service Quality
What truly elevated the experience was the staff. From security at the entrance to the front desk team, housekeeping, and the staff at the buffet breakfast, everyone was consistently helpful, polite, and welcoming. The service felt warm and professional throughout my stay.
Buffet Breakfast Experience

The buffet breakfast was a real highlight. The spread was extensive, offering a wide variety of cuisines, along with hot, made-to-order dishes. There were both indoor and outdoor seating options, which added to the relaxed morning atmosphere.
It was the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for a productive day.
Would I Stay Here Again?
Absolutely. Except for the vehicular noise, which is something to keep in mind when selecting room preferences, my entire stay was pleasant and satisfying.
Who Is The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa Best For?
Based on my stay, The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa is especially well-suited for:
- Business travelers looking for comfort, conference facilities, and quick airport access
- Families who want a resort-like hotel without leaving the city
- Long-stay guests who value spacious rooms and good dining options
- Travelers who prefer full-service Marriott luxury hotels in Doha
If youโre sensitive to traffic noise, requesting a room away from the main road would make the experience even better.
